IO Interactive has shared some new details on the upcoming Project 007, the studio’s upcoming title based on the widely successful James Bond franchise.
Speaking with Danish publication DR, IO big cheese Hakan Abrak revealed that Project 007 will not lean on any previous Bond actor, so don’t expect the the super spy to look like Daniel Craig or the late, great Sean Connery, for example.
Furthermore, the game is completely original, and is therefore not an adaptation of any of the previous 24 Bond movies.
We have been allowed to make our own digital Bond, which will not lean on a Bond actor. We also came up with a completely original story, and you could easily imagine that a trilogy could come out of it.
Elsewhere, Abrak revealed that IO had been pitching a James Bond game for almost two years, and last year presented it in London to 007 producer Barbara Broccoli, the daughter of Albert ‘Cubby’ Broccoli, the man who brought Bond to the big screen back in the 1960s with Dr. No.
As the owner of Eo Productions, the company which produces the 007 movies, Barbara has the final say on anything regarding the British secret agent.
At the beginning of the meeting she had a very expressionless face, but the further into the meeting we came, she bled up and started smiling. One could see that the younger members of the family lit up when they saw that she was reacting.
As previously reported, IO is looking to double its staff for Project 007 and plans to open up a sister studio in Sweden.
