The next part of the game of bloody replays is almost here, and most of it feels familiar. A fresh batch of slapdash headshots is on the menu when Rebellion serves us Sniper Elite 5 next month. Once again, hero Karl Fairburne packs his rifles and heads out into World War II Europe to fight Nazi Germany from the shadows.

Soon they uncover a secret Nazi project, Operation Kraken, which threatens to end the war before the Allies can even invade Europe.
The latest instalment in the award-winning series, Sniper Elite 5, offers unparalleled sniping, tactical third-person combat and an enhanced kill camera. Fight your way through the most immersive maps yet, with many real-world locations captured in stunning detail and an improved traversal system that lets you explore more of them than ever before.
Game Features
In terms of gameplay, Rebellion has announced a brand new invasion mode. A human-controlled Axis sniper can enter your game with the task of eliminating you before you complete your mission, if you play with this feature activated. You don’t know where or who they are, only that they’re out there because the game will alert you that an invader has joined. However, you can turn off invasion mode if you want a single-player experience.
Advanced gunplay physics and traversal
Use ziplines, slide down slopes, sneak along ledges to reach the perfect vantage point, or sneak past a sharp-eyed lookout. Consider the options of gunstock and barrel along with gravity, wind and pulse as you aim at the target.
High calibre alignment
Rifles, secondaries and pistols all have a wide range of options. Use workbenches to customize and upgrade virtually every aspect of your weapon – change sights, stocks, barrels, magazines, etc. In addition, you can choose ammunition to suit your target, from armour piercing down to non-lethal.
Tense opponent
Customize your character and loadout and earn XP, medals and ribbons as you take on intensely competitive battles with 16 players that will truly test your cutting skills. You can team up with up to 3 players against enemy waves in Survival mode.
Improved kill cam
More realistic and eerie than ever, the trademark X-ray kill cam returns to show you the true destructive power of each shot. Ben deflects bullets unpredictably, tearing a new path through enemy bodies. SMGs and pistols can also trigger death chambers, including multiple shots in dramatic slow motion.
Conclusion
Sniper Elite 5 is a clear continuation of the series’ fourth instalment, and given that Rebellion has honed the initially rather axed game, it makes sense that they’re not taking it too far. In videos released so far, it’s still a bit lousy, and bloody body parts in slow motion probably don’t feel as spectacular as they did ten years ago. But it still seems to have its charm, and we’re looking forward to trying the full version as soon as the game is released.
