Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XV has sold over 10 million copies worldwide, which makes it one of only a few entries in the venerable JRPG series to have reached the milestone.
Here’s what the publisher had to say in a (translated) tweet:
[Final Fantasy XV] has achieved cumulative worldwide sales of 10 million units! Thank you for your support! Thank you for your continued support #FF15!
In terms of how the game stacks up against previous entries the series, Final Fantasy VII is perhaps unsurprisingly the highest-selling game in the franchise with 13 million units, with Final Fantasy X also having surpassed the 10 million milestone — Final Fantasy XIV is also thought to have sold a similar amount of copies.

Final Fantasy VII Remake, despite only being released just over two years ago, is also selling strongly, with over five million copies moved worldwide.
Final Fantasy XV was originally conceived as the PS3-exclusive Final Fantasy Versus XIII, before being revamped into a full numbered entry in the series. The game launched in late 2016 for PS4 and Xbox One, and was repackaged with all DLC as Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition in 2018.
