DXRacer Craft Custom Gaming Chair Review – Gaming chair’s aren’t something I’m used to reviewing, but when the opportunity to review a DXRacer chair came, I jumped at the chance.
I’ve heard about the DXRacer chairs for years but could never afford to buy one myself due to their high cost.
After finally getting to sit in one for almost a week, I can say that the DXRacer chairs are worth every penny.
DXRacer Craft Custom Gaming Chair Review
A Beautiful Chair Designed With Comfort In Mind
The first thing you’ll notice is the design of the chair. The PU leather stands out and feels great. The raised sides also provide superior comfort around your hips, almost like you’re strapping into an actual racing chair.
The design I have is a Koi Fish with black and gold stitching that’s flashy but not so dazzling that it’s distracting.
That’s, of course, after you put the chair together. The chair itself is pretty heavy, and I recommend building it where you’re going to put it, especially if you’re going to set it up in an upstairs or downstairs room.
The chair weighs about 70 pounds, and most of its weight is centred on the bottom frame, which is pure steel.
The steel is great because you won’t have to worry about parts wearing and tearing, which I’ve experienced with plastic chairs. The recommended maximum weight the chair can hold is 250 pounds, and it seats at a maximum height of six feet.
So it fits the majority of people. That’s not saying those who exceed these limits can’t enjoy the chair. They just may not be as comfortable with its design.
The chairs assembly is also quite easy. The wheels simply popped into place and the parts that need to be screwed in using large bolts that don’t take much effort to screw in thanks to the easy to use packed tools. I never felt like I needed to worry about any parts coming loose with its sturdy design.
Features To Help With The Most Intense Work, Or The Most Leisurely
When I first sat in the DXRacer Craft chair it was awkward and I couldn’t understand why this chair felt so weird to sit in. The reason I discovered is that I wasn’t used to sitting in a chair so comfortable.
It felt like the first time I sat in a lazy boy chair. After sitting in stiff chairs and chairs where the padding fades after a couple of months or even hours of sitting in. The foam and padding never felt like they lost their cushion. Every time I sit down on the chair it’s as if I’m sitting down for the first time.
One of my favourite parts of the DXRacer Craft chair is its Cooling Gel Foam Pillow that sits at the headrest. It keeps your head nice and cool in hot templates and regulates based on your body temperature.
All those stressful encounters in Elden Ring were made much better, and I didn’t have to sweat bullets the entire time.
Along with the Gel Foam Pillow, the chair’s backrest is designed for full lumbar support and adjustment. It even features a side-mounted rotational dial to adjust just how much support you want on your back.
This dial adjusts how high or low you want the backrest to provide the best comfort when leaning back in the chair.
The armrests provide plenty of flexibility as well. The 4D armrests allow you to adjust their height and the angle they face. You can rotate them 20 degrees from each side and even slide them back and forth to support either the forearm or the elbows when typing on your computer or playing games.
A Few Design Flaws Hold It Back From Perfection
As much as I love the chair, I did have some quality of life issues. The first is its effort to lean back in the chair with its tilt. Even in the loosest setting, I found myself returning to a normal sitting position with the slightest movement of my body.
I can, of course, lock the chair in a specific position, but the handle and the armrests don’t provide easy access to reach down and lock the chair.
I had a hell of a time getting around the larger and wider armrests to reach down to the handle. The easiest way I found to do it was to lower the armrest just to reach the handle.
It’s also a sturdy handle so it takes a little effort to unlock the chair which as you can imagine isn’t that easy to accomplish when you’re reclined and only your fingertips are able to reach the handle.
The other issue is using the chair on hardwood floors will have you sliding around like you’re on ice skates. I love that the chair is easy to move, but unless you nicely sit down instead of plumping down in the chair, you’re going to go sliding.
At times, I love to plump down in my chair, and I slide backwards or sideways right into a shelf every time I do.
The DXRacer Craft chair is pricey, sitting around $479 before taxes and shipping, which means you’re looking at at least $520, but boy, is it worth it. My back feels great, and my body is happy with me.
For those looking for a great-looking chair that also feels comfortable, look no further than the DXRacer Craft.
The price may seem steep, but I can say, without question, you get what you pay for.
