Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, has indicated that users will be happy with the performance of classic PlayStation titles running on PS4 & PS5 using the format holder’s new PlayStation Plus service, which rolls out this summer.
Speaking with Famitsu magazine, Ryan wouldn’t be drawn into commenting whether or not PS1, PS2, and PS3 games would benefit from any extra bells and whistles for classic titles, but he did reveal they ‘look great.’
“I’ve heard from people who have played with it that it looks great on PlayStation 4 and 5. But it will depend on the game.” He added that there would be “more details to come” regarding the performance of classic PlayStation games using the service.

The new PlayStation Plus will offer a three-tier subscription service, with each one providing different content and increasing in price.
The PlayStation Plus Premium their, which is the most expensive option, gives you access to up to 400 games across PS4 and PS5, as well as a host of legacy titles spanning PS1, PS2, PS3, and PSP. It has been suggested that PS3 emulation is possible on PS5, but Sony isn’t interested in putting the resources into making it happen.
