A new PS5 model has seemingly been registered by Sony Interactive Entertainment in Japan.
Back in April, the hardware manufacturer obtained construction design certification for a new CFI-1200 model, which includes new radio equipment.
Furthermore, Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affair and Communications, a company which ensures radio and wireless communication equipment meets the necessary tech standards, awarded the new model design certification.
As previously reported, the PS5 hardware at launch uses a CFI-1XXX branding, while the revised version of the console, which launched last year, employs CFI-11XX.

The PS5 redesign last year didn’t feature any major advancements in performance, instead only including updated components. Chances are this will be the case with the CFI-1200 series.
In related news, there’s still rumours about PS5 Pro doing the rounds, which is reportedly going to offer significant improvements in terms of specs and will launch by 2024.
