Speaking during a livestream for the Final Fantasy 7 25th anniversary today, Square Enix’s Yoshinori Kitase revealed that the company plans to unveil Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 at some point this year.
A translation of Kitase’s comments reads as follows:
We are hard at work on Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis, so please look forward to that. In addition, with regards to the long awaited Final Fantasy VII Remake [Part 2]… there will be more information… this year if we can.
Pushed if he was sure that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 would be unveiled this year, he replied:
Well yeah. We just started the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII, so we want to celebrate and get fans excited, so within the next 12 months we want to share some information. Look forward to more information!

The Final Fantasy 7 25th anniversary post on Twitter also revealed that Square Enix has more projects related to the much-loved RPG following the remake.
Final Fantasy 7 Remake was released for PS4 in April 2020, with a PS5 release following last year as Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade.
