Pragmata Is Making ‘Steady Progress,’ Confirms Capcom

Capcom has revealed during its Integrated Report this week that development of Pragmata is making ‘steady progress,’ although we’re still no close to finding out a concrete release date for the game.

In the same report, the Japanese publisher confirmed that both Resident Evil 3 Remake is considered a ‘hit,’ presumably meaning it sold in line with expectations. In addition, the RE Engine, which has been used to power every mainline Resident Evil game since 2017, will continue to evolve.

Capcom’s Executive Corporate Officer, Yoichi Egawa, revealed that Pragmatic will foster a lot of younger talent, saying the project offers a “chance to acquire know-how and skills through hands-on experience in the field as they are assigned to the development of popular IPs and major titles.”

Pragmatic takes place in the near future in science-fiction, dystopian setting that is set to feature a “profound story” and sumptuous visuals that take full advantage of the graphical muscle of the PS5.

The game hasn’t been seen since its initial unveiling at the PlayStation Showcase 2020, at which point the PS5 hadn’t even been fully unveiled yet. Pragmatic was originally pencilled in for a 2022 launch but was later delayed into 2023, so it’s still a long way off at this point.

Pragmata is currently in development for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
