Ubisoft has announced that the Massive Entertainment-developed Avatar project has been delayed alongside previously confirmed delays for Rainbow Six Siege and Far Cry 6. The game will now show up at some point during the publisher’s fiscal year that starts in April 2022.
New Avatar Has Been Delayed By Ubisoft
The delay now means that the game is probably going to turn up close to the release of Avatar 2, which is scheduled to hit cinemas in December 2022. According to Ubisoft’s latest earnings call, the decision to postpone the game was down to the movie’s delay.
Ubisoft hasn’t actually named specific platforms for the second Avatar game, only stating that it’s coming to PC and consoles. Still, we imagine this means PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game is set on Pandora, although that’s about all we know on the project so far.
The original Avatar game came out back in 2009 alongside James Cameron’s movie, which until 2019’s Avengers: Endgame was the highest-grossing film of all time.
As mentioned, the game is being developed by Massive Entertainment, who are best known for working on Ubisoft’s The Division franchise.
