Artsy darling Teslagrad coming to PS3, PS Vita

The team at Rain Games is looking to cash in on the popularity of indie games on Sony consoles with their 2D puzzle platformer Teslagrad. Eduardo Garabito, Press & Community Coordinator at Rain Games, took to the European PlayStation Blog to share some details about the art style and inspiration of the game that was previously released on PCs.

"We knew we wanted to do the game in HD, with hand-animated characters, which is a huge task for a tiny team such as ours. We opted to do most character animations in 12fps as this would allow us to have a larger move set for the characters without eating up all of the texture space," writes Garabito.

The art style of Teslagrad is akin to that of hand drawn Disney characters you would have seen in movies from the 1920s and 1930s. It is a very unique style that does a great job of enhancing the theme, gameplay, and tone of the game.

"We’re huge fans of The Jungle Book and The Aristocats Disney era, where they photocopied the pencil animation sketches directly onto cels as a time-saving device instead of retracing it and doing clean-up."

While Eduardo wrote that it was "too soon" to discuss a release date for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, it is definitely a title we will keep our eyes on. Will you? For now, feel free to check out the launch trailer below.
