Bethesda is minutes away at time of writing from kicking off Quakecon, and the festivities seem to have already started with the release of a remaster for Quake on PS4 right now, and a free PS5 version coming soon down the line.
This surprise drop seems to be one hell of a remaster, with support for resolutions up to 4K, widescreen support, enhanced models, dynamic and coloured lighting, anti-aliasing, depth of field and to boot it even has the original soundtrack and theme song by Trent Reznor.
There’s also two brand new expansions for players to old and new players to check out, along with the two original expansion packs from the original game. You can also play online or local co-op and online or local multiplayer.
It’s also crossplay, and you’ll have access to additional free mods and missions such as an offical Quake 64 mod. Altogether this is shaping up to be one incredible remaster, and the best part is that it’s already available now.
