Digital Foundry has put Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy through its paces on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, which has revealed that the game’s Performance Mode suffers from some noticeable hiccups.
The report reveals that while this mode is designed to run at 60 FPS, the game doesn’t always hit that mark. Furthermore, Performance Mode runs at 1080p resolution and suffers from decreased effects on shadows and other areas.
On the other, the Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Quality Mode runs at 30 FPS, so it’s not quite as smooth, but the resolution targets 4K and doesn’t seem to drop below this level on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Furthermore, you receive improved effects like shadows, foliage, and aliasing. As such, DF recommends this mode as the best to play unless you really must go for 60 FPS.
