BioShock 4 developer Cloud Chamber has posted up a new job listing for a Senior Gameplay Programmer, which seems to indicate the highly anticipated title will utilise the Unreal Engine 5.
The Montreal-based studio confirmed in the list of ‘Job Details’ for the position that the successful candidate will ‘work within Unreal Engine 5 adapting existing systems and building new technology in.’ Given that BIoShock 4 is still in the very early stages of development, it’s pretty certain this job applies to that project.
The description reads:
We are looking for a Senior Gameplay Programmer to join our Gameplay team. In this role you will own a large part of our World Systems and Player Progression systems. You will work collaboratively with Design, Animation, Audio, and Art to build some of these large systems and own their technical creation from the ground up, starting with prototyping, and carrying them all the way to a polished state.

During this process you will have constant opportunities to help elevate, problem solve, and steer these ideas as they develop.
BioShock 4, or whatever it ends up being called, is currently in development at Cloud Chamber for unspecified platforms. There is currently no release date either, but it’s obviously a long way off at this point.
A previous job listing for the new BioShock game indicated it will be an open-world FPS with ‘character and personality’ built into it.
