Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts, said during the publishing giant’s latest earnings call overnight that the company is taking the ‘long view’ with Battlefield 2042.
The executive’s comments came after it was suggested during the call that Battlefield 2042’s latest update didn’t do much to give player engagement a shot in the arm. When quizzed if EA’s commitment to its support for the game had waned in wake of the response to the update, Wilson offered:
No, and again, we take the long view here. This is one of the great franchises of our industry, built by one of the great teams in the industry, and our expectations are it’s going to continue to grow and be a really important part of our portfolio for many, many years to come.

Battlefield 2042 was released in November 2021 for PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. However, EA has admitted that the game failed to meet expectations at launch, and has seen a number of delays to content, including Season One, which has been pushed to Summer 2022.
