Bioware Commander Shepard Mass Effect 5 New Mass Effect News PS5

Mass Effect Developer Says It Wasn’t Teasing Shepard’s Return After All

BioWare has clarified that it didn’t actually tease a return for Commander Shepard in Mass Effect 5 after all.

You may recall that yesterday we reported that a new N7 Day lithograph was being sold by the company, with the description originally mentioning Shepard post-Reaper War. This was later changed to remove any reference to the Commander, suggesting they wanted to keep things under wraps.

Sadly, it looks like Shepard is not coming back for the next Mass Effect, as BioWare’s Mike Gamble has said that the description was simply a mistake made by those unfamiliar with the story.

Yeah, that was a mistake. Fixed. The original thing was written by the people who run the store and aren’t familiar with the game :).

The new Mass Effect game is currently in development at BioWare although there’s no release date in sight yet. The game will presumably launch on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, but platforms haven’t been confirmed at this point.

Meanwhile, if you haven’t played the earlier games, then be sure to check out Mass Effect: Legendary Edition on PS4.
