Having to endure many sudden blackouts (my sister believe that our neighborhood is in some ‘black’ area) that my dad had brought home many flashlight and one of them is the MAGLITE ST3D016 3-D Cell LED Flashlight.

Other than looking nice in any color (I’ve seen the array in my dad’s shop), MAGLITE ST3D016 3-D Cell LED Flashlight is solidly constructed and I’ve heard from some policemen that it’s a great self-defense tool. It can be used to blind an attacker and it’s a nice impact weapon due to its heaviness.
The flashlight also enables you to focus the light from a floodlight that instantly light up a whole room to a tight beam. The different beams are uniform in terms if brightness and intensity. There is an extra bulb in the tailcap should you manage to bust the original one, although that rarely happens to anyone.
On the downside, it does get dimmer as the batteries wear out. It will die on you without warning so be prepared with spare batteries. They run on 3-D cel.ls that are fairly cheap so that they won’t drag you back financially.
Although its heftiness is a plus when it comes to self-defense, this flashlight won’t do you any favors when you are backpacking or hiking. My sister learnt that the hard way when she came back from a backpacking trip achier than usual.
Overall, the MAGLITE ST3D016 3-D Cell LED Flashlight is a great light if you don’t mind the lack of longevity of the batteries and its bulk. Also, it’s too bright for close in use, so if you’re considering to get this flashlight, do so if it is the right tool for you.

The best feature for me is the ability to adjust the position of the beam with the help of the hinge on the lamp’s housing. The adjustable beam angle points where light is needed the most. This feature is not only handy for outdoor activities but also for use indoors.
Another nice feature of this Petzl E47 PS Tikka Plus 4-LED Headlamp is that it has four different light features; maximum, optimum, economic and blinking mode. The maximum setting emits a very bright light perfect for exploring caves or a night hike. The blinking mode on the other hand produces a strobe light for signaling emergencies. I find the economic setting useful when I need a more dim lighting to read books before going to bed.
This headlamp is lightweight so it won’t strain your neck and it is compact to carry around. The headband is thick enough to secure it on your head and it does not slide off easily. Adding to that, it uses power efficiently that you can save on batteries.
The Petzl E47 PS Tikka Plus 4-LED Headlamp is one of the best headlamps to bring when you are doing outdoor activities. Even though there are debates saying that its design could be better, to each their own, as I think this is a great gear to add in a backpack.

Having young children and elderly parents around, I’ve placed a few nightlights throughout the house so that they can move around at night with ease and without flipping on the lights. My first couple of Sentina LED-92M Smart Rechargeable LED Lights worked so great that I bought a few other units after that.

The LED nightlights only come on after the lights are turned off when everybody retires to bed. The nightlights are the right color and subtle in the dark. When triggered, they will provide a much brighter light from a set if multiple LED so that you can move around easily. They provide enough light without having overhead lighting.
The sensitive motion detector is a great safety feature for my kids and parents. I’ve placed one on top of the stairs and another at the bottom so that when they need to go down to the kitchen, they can safely descend and ascend the stairs. I’ve also placed one in the mud room and kitchen so that when I come home late from work; I don’t have to wake up anyone by turning on any lights.
I’ve replaced my old nightlight with these Sentina LED-92M Smart Rechageable LED Lights so that when there are any power outages, we’ll still have light in most rooms as well as a flashlight that’s easy to find. The lights function as flashlights when unplugged due to the rechargeable built-in battery.
The only drawback from these nightlights is that some of them stopped working after a few weeks. I’ve sent them for repairing under warranty but the shipment did cost a little.
Other than that, I’m much satisfied with Sentina LED-92M Smart Rechageable LED Lights as these gadgets are nifty and useful for the whole family to pad around the house at night.

I have been a fan of MAGLITEs but I have to change my opinion after I bought a Smith & Wesson Galaxy 13 LED Flashlight to take on a camping trip. It has served me well since then.

Although I have never been bothered by the bulk that comes with MAGLITEs, I find that this smaller flashlight is much more appropriate for a woman such as me. Smith & Wesson Galaxy 13 LED Flashlight easily fits into a large pocket or backpack; something my old flashlights refuse to do.
The barrel is solid when held and is easy to carry around (this is made easy by the provided nylon holster). The two switches are in the right places for easy one hand operation without the need to fumble around. Each switch activates a different light mode.
There are two light modes on this flashlight; the white LEDs mode and the red LEDs mode. The amount of light from the white LEDs are ridiculously wide and bright for a flashlight this small. It shines for about a 10 feet distance, enough to let you move around your campsite without tripping over anything. The red dimmer lights are less blinding so they are great when you are looking for your things in the tent without blinding yourself or your tent mate.
It’s definitely not the brightest flashlight around, especially if you compare it to any MAGLITE but this flashlight is a pretty good value. I would definitely recommend the Smith & Wesson Galaxy 13 LED Flashlight to everybody who is looking for a flashlight.

For our new year’s resolutions, my friends and I promised that we would go travelling more often. So far we’ve kept to it but much to my unwillingness, we usually travel to the destination on the road at night. In those dark nights, the Smith & Wesson Galaxy 28 LED Flashlight has been a good companion.

The Smith & Wesson Galaxy 28 LED Flashlight emits an excellent beam of white light that’s enough to illuminates your way around in the dark. But our favorite feature is the red and blue 4 LED light mode. They’re great for preserving night vision when reading maps without obstructing the driver’s vision with any bright light.
The longevity of the battery is great. We’ve been using the same ones since our first trip in February and it still holds out. Do bear in mind that we’ve been only constantly using the 4-LED mode that was designed for conserving the battery power instead of the 20-LED mode.
Although we’ve taken good care of the flashlight, I believe that it’s durable enough to withstand any accidents. The body of the flashlight is stylish and feels good in the hand. There are also features that prevent the flashlight from rolling off countertop and your hand; squared ends and grooved mid-section.
I’m no aviation pilot or EMS but I’ve read that this flashlight have served them well during night duties. So whether you work night shifts or night travelers such as my friends and me, the Smith & Wesson Galaxy 28 LED Flashlight can be a great addition to your tool kit.

This Streamlight 61052 Septor LED Headlamp with Strap cranks out super-bright light with three level of lighting so that you are able to conserve your batteries whenever you can and avoid blinding other people unintentionally. As a servicing contractor, I find that it illuminates well while I repair the equipments in the dark.
It also features a tilt mechanism of up to 90 degrees. The ability to fully adjust the light angle so that I can zero in on the parts that needs to be illuminate most reduces the strain on my neck. Even though I find this feature useful, the tilt mechanism on my unit is rather flimsy and requires me to be more careful.
Not only is it useful for me at work, I also use it when I go out camping or hiking. The tilt mechanism is good at lighting a steep trail or climbing route ahead. It is also durable to withstand falls on hard grounds and heavy loads when accidentally placed at the bottom of the backpack.

I highly recommend the Streamlight 61052 Septor LED Headlamp with Strap. Its super good and the best for the money spent (in my case, my sister’s).

Like most people, my sister don’t ever think about flashlights until she need one. She was flashlight-less until I gave her my MAGLITE RX1019 Heavy-Duty Rechargeable Flashlight System when I took her with me on one of my camping trips.

I’ve asked her keep it beside her at night and grab for it when something goes bump in the middle of the night if she needs to get out of her tent. A penlight would be lighter for a woman to carry but when you don’t know what you’re going to be getting into, this is what I want her to have with her. Hypothetically, I think the light can be used to beat up an attacker after blinding its/his/her eyes due to its bulk and light intensity.
The MAGLITE RX1019 is designed so that it easily held under the arms when both hands are busy while keeping a continuous stream of light. The mounting cradle has a nice easy-in- but firm-holding mechanism so that it can be kept easily on a wall but you may need some leveraging when you want to dismount it.
Although it absorbs fall and banging effortlessly and lives to shine another day, do not drop it when it is hot. The possibility of the bulb needing to be replaced is high, as I found out when I dropped the flashlight during one of my previous camping trips. It does not come with an extra bulb so you may want to get your hands on one while you are purchasing the flashlight. Of course, I replaced mine before giving it to my sister.
Like all other MAGLITEs, the MAGLITE RX1019 Heavy-Duty Rechargeable Flashlight System is solidly constructed, incredibly bright and definitely worth every penny spent.
